- Make a fresh commitment to act on behalf of animals
- Inspire others to do the same
- Spread the word
One of RRR's big fundraisers is their Ridgeback-A-Day calendar. We have submitted pictures 2 years now. I can't wait to see if we get into the 2011 Calendar. You can get your very own here.
Here is our calendar day in 2010, it's coming up next week 7/21.
I know I will never buy another dog! I will rescue. And knowing me I will rescue the one(s) with the saddest story, the longest time in rescue, or the old one no one wants.
I took in an 11 year old 100lb dog, we are coming up on 2 wonderful years with him and he's going strong. You just never know.
Hope everyone is having a great day. Give your furiends a bit of extra love today!
Wags!!!

Blogger is being so bad today. Anyway, that's a wonderful post. I am, of course, in favor of getting dogs from rescue whenever possible. And older - more mature ones - need homes just as much as any other dog. It's so good when someone is willing to make that effort.

This was a great post with some good reminders! We've done some fostering of rescues too, as you may have read in our blog posts. Grammy's sister helps run a local rescue and that's how we ended up fostering. There are just so many dogs and other animals out there that need this kind of help! The Country Corgi Crew
ReplyDeleteI love the calendar idea! Rescues are the best!
ReplyDeleteFound you through the blog hop :) Thanks for posting these great tips. Also your Ridgebacks are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh bless your heart fur taking in a senior doggie. They seems to be furgotten. It is so worth it, whether to have them a week or 5 years...just to let them know what and a home is.

ReplyDeleteWow, a Ridgeback a Day, awesome! Boomer you look like a sweet dog, I wish I could meet you! I'm getting around to all the BtC sites slowly but surely, and I"m glad I made my way to yours. I'm now following!
ReplyDeleteI love that you're committed to those animals most in need. Older and special needs dogs are often last on the list for consideration.
ReplyDeleteThanks for Blogging the Change!
