Thank You!

We just wanted to take time to remember all those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  God Bless all those who continue to serve!

The Indignity....

Apparently my parents hate me thought I was getting a bit dirty.   They took me to be tortured for a bath.  This place had pick-up truck beds that have been rubber lined to use for bath tubs.   It's also a car wash.  :-)

Below you will see that not only did they have to wash me,  mom insisted on documenting it for posterity.

Really, you're really going to do this?

Well at least it's a 4x4.

You will see at least that I got to get my inner gangsta on!

Are we done yet?

Yep all wet and covered in soap!  Have I mentioned I hate hate hate water!?

Just great now she's got me all ready to try out for the Christmas pageant.

Is this look woeful enough?

From Mr. Nubbin's Mom:  He got treats right after this and came home to more treats and appears to have forgotten it all happened.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

So here is the word part of Almost Wordless Wednesday.  My wonderful furend Mayzie is doing a contest on her blog for the next week.  See Mayzie had a Dee-En-Ay test done to see what kinda puppy she might be.  So her mom decided that she could raise money for a local rescue group by having people guess what Mayzie's made of.  You can also have a chance at a prize if you guess right.  Mayzie's mom and dad will donate 50 cents per guess up to 400 guesses to Mariah's Promise.  So run over to Mayzie's Guess My Family Tree!

And now the wordless part!

Good to the Last Drop!

So this weekend was get stuff done weekend.  After finishing up moving about 200 2 tons of rock dad and favoriest Aunt Jaime were sitting on the back porch.  Aunt Jaime was drinking coffee and I decided to check it out.

I even tried to show Jada how good it was.

We also wanted to send out special hugs to Maxmom.  Max crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today.  :-(
Godspeed Max!

Boring....

We are starting to realize that we lead a pretty boring life.  :-)   Mom's favorite blog day is Wordless Wednesday since it doesn't require the extra thought.  There is a reason mom has an engineering degree.  Much better with numbers than words.  Maybe this is good practice.

You might remember that dad was a bit under the weather a couple weeks ago, well he was kind enough to share with mom.  So I spent the better part of the day in the chair keeping her company.  It's a hard job but someone has to do it.

Hope you are all not having boring days.

PeeS.  Rumor has it the sun might be out here this weekend.  We'll keep you posted.

Where is the Sun???

So every since mom and dad got back from leaving us ALL alone vacation.  The weather here has been YUCKY.  Cold, rainy, overcast.

(Mom says please ignore the yard spots as Mother Nature has not been kind to us yet)

Look at that wet...going outside has been a major chore since I really, really, really hate having wet feet.

So I decided to curl up and wait for the sun to come out.

Yep that's me curled up in mom and dad's bed with my head on mom's pillow.  It is a truly rough life that I lead.

Well rumor has it the sun might be coming out, maybe I'll go check!

Oh boy...oh boy...oh boy! GABE Pressies!

So we mentioned a while back that we won Tank's GABE drawing!

Well our package arrived while mom and dad were on vacation and favoritest Aunt Jaime wouldn't open it for us.  Something about mom missing out on the flashy beast!  Whatever!  :-)

So mom FINALLY got caught up with work and got around to opening the package.   Look at how big it is!

Here is what we found inside, addressed to all of us:

See the little hearts below the card, well those were wrapped around the most wonderful, special, treats.

How cool is that with our names on them and everything!  Mom tried to get pictures of us eating them, but only Lucky took more than 1 bite!  :-)

You can kinda see the edge of mine.

Jada sucked her's down in 1 bite!

Lucky actually got a couple bites out of his.  Mom had to keep me from going to steal them!

But that wasn't all that was in the box:

Can you believe all those treats!?  There are heart shaped and squirrel shaped!  We are soooo very much excited.  Dad gave us a few of the little ones too but mom didn't get a chance to grab the flashy beast!

Thanks Tank for such a great GABE give away!!!!

Woe is Me...

I can so relate to Mazyie....mom AND dad are leaving us for 5 whole days!   At least favoritest Aunt Jaime is coming to stay but still!

Mom has been very busy the last few days trying to finish things up before heading out of town.

We will miss all our furends but will do our best to keep up on mom's phone.  We'll see how that goes!

Hope every one has a great weekend and Mother's Day!

Poor Dad...

My poor dad has a yucky cold!  So my day revolved around laying in the chair with him keeping him warm!

Mom never got any pictures....she felt bad for him.  But it looked a lot like this!

Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon!

A day in the life....

I had a very hard day today.  First I had to go ALL the way up stairs to jump in bed between mom and dad.  Then I had to move over to cuddle with dad.

After that, ALL the way back downstairs to get breakfast.

Then I had to hop up in the chair for my nap!

After my nap we wandered around the house a bit then I curled up in the chair with mom and dad.

This was followed by dinner and a trip back to the chair with mom and dad.

As you can see it is a VERY hard life that I lead!

From Mr. Nubbin's Mom...

So there has been a lot of things on blogs lately making me think.  First over at This Good That Bad they did a writing contest about why our pets keep us sane.  I can't imagine living with out some kind of furry friend.  I've them all my life except for a year in college and the first year after I graduated.    They are as much a part of me as a child can be.  I tell everyone that my kids have 4 legs and fur and I wouldn't have it any other way.   The way they always come and greet you at the door when you come home like you are the best thing ever.  It can take the worst day and turn it around in just a matter of seconds.  Every night when I crawl in bed to read before I go to sleep Petey the cat comes and curls up on my feet, just to be close to me.  Mr. Nubbin' shows up in bed about 6 mornings out of 7 just to have cuddle time.  They follow me around the house just to let me know they are there.   I don't think there is a coincidence between God and Dog.

Then I look at MaxDog and Wilf and Digby and what their family's are going through.  I tear up every time I think about it.  I know that Lucky is pushing 13 and at over 100lbs that's a long time.   I'm sure in the not to distant future I will have to make some tough decisions.   I still wouldn't change taking him in at 11 and having him part of my family for as long as we can.

I have come across a couple of groups in the last few weeks that cater to older dogs and finding them homes.  First there is The Grey Muzzle Organization they work to foster/support and place at risk older dogs.  Then there is Old Dog Haven they are in WA and work with adoptable older dogs and dogs that need a final refuge, hospice care, etc.

I can't tell you the blessing we got taking in an older dog.  He is the light of my day.  When we first got him he had been in rescue for close to 2 years.  He was 121lbs and didn't have a lot of muscle tone.  We had to get a step for him to to get in my truck for probably the first 3-4 months.    Over time he built back up his strength and stamina.  He is able to run with his 5 year old brother and sister in the open space,  jump into the back of my truck and every day he does something that just makes me laugh out loud.

I mean how can you not love those ears!

Anyway I just seem to be all emotional right now about my furry kids and figured you all would understand and indulge me!
