So yesterday we posted poor Ruger's cone pictures. Here is the reason, he's a poor little allergy dog. He's allergic to corn, wheat and yeast. He's also apparently a counter surfer. Last week we had cookies cooling on the counter and he helped himself. We don't bother anything on the counter so mom and dad didn't even think about it. They know better now.
It appears that maybe he had a bit of an allergic storm start. He was scratching and licking. He has a scrape on his neck on his scars there and a raw spot on his front leg. He goes back to see Uncle Ron and Aunt Barb this afternoon and I'm sure they will get him all straightened out.
Mom just thought it was funny that he was only here a few weeks and ended up in a cone.
Our kitteh sister is out of her cone and doing much better. Her foot is all healed up and she's back to all her normal activities. This is giving us a lot of opportunity to work on Ruger's Off command.
We are all getting along swimmingly. We has 5 days together to really cement us as a pack. I will probably let mom have the blog tomorrow or Saturday to tell you all about it.

It is terrible to have to go through days and days in a cone and I should know...I had to wear a cone just after I was "fixed" and I did not like wearing that thing at all!
ReplyDeleteI hope Ruger finds just the right thing to eat so he can avoid wearing that embarrassing cone again! Have you visited a wholistic vet or a natural pet supply store for suggestions?
By the way, I am hosting a blog hop today called THANKFUL FUR 3 THURSDAY and every week I introduce 3 new friends to the world. Today we have Brian the cat, Traci the product reviewer, and Tank the Llaso Apso to meet! Come on over and say hello to them if you can!
xoxo....Daisy
We don't all do so well with corn here either. TD had a bout of the loosey goosey last week, and Mom thinks it was some treats he had that had some corn in them. No more of those for him.
ReplyDeleteHope Ruger can shed the cone soon.
Happy Pack Bonding.

Woof! Woof! Yes its not FUN to have allergies. As a Golden I have allergies n lots of them. One of them is WHEAT ... that's why mom makes me wheat free dog treats. You have to be very extra careful buying commercial foods. Check your doggie food ... mine is 0%grain. I only get my grain through dog treats mom makes. Some of the recipes are on my blog. We package 4 flavors. If you interested let us know will send you some samples. Send us an email. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteFood allergies are the pits! We've just gone back on our basically raw diet and I've stopped itching and Kendra has stopped the foul, room-clearing gas.
ReplyDeleteHope the cone comes off soon.

I don't has any allergies but I don't thinks they would be any fun to haves. Sugar's treats are most yummy, you should get some of dems. :)
