Transport Run - Part II

So mom got up before the sun this morning and headed out to go get Opus and Casper. Luckily the weather monster didn't get in the way.

She meet up with the nice Miss Misty lady and got the boys loaded up in the car.

So Casper decided that he was going to ride shotgun and there was no talking him out of it. Mom tried rearranging the backseat and putting a block up and he still got in the front. So mom decided to just let him ride there.

He kinda fogged up the window.

Opus decided he would use the trip to save up his energy.

Then he decided to help mom navigate and made sure she wasn't speeding.

On Sunday there wasn't a lot of traffic so mom got back about an hour before she was meeting up with the nice Miss Becky lady that was taking them the rest of the way. So they got to come over and stretch their legs. I got to see Opus for about 30 seconds but mom is a chicken introducing new dogs so I had to go back inside.

Opus and a snow snack and then he was trying to play with Casper. (We're pretty sure Casper didn't see it that way) Casper spent most of his time rolling on his back in the snow but mom never caught him with the flashy beast.

So mom had a great time today and then she came and I got to cuddle with her.

Our First Transport Run

So mom is getting up early tomorrow morning to go on her first transport run. She is going to pick up Opus and Casper and help them get to Denver so they can get their heartworm treatments and be all ready for their forever families!

Why Dogs Hate Mailmen.....

So What's Her Name is making a wonderful quilt for the Pittie Pack. Well we don't have blankies that we use. So we talked mom into making a square for us.

Isn't it cool?

Mom mailed it by fast mail (since we were running late). When What's Her Name posted the list of who she got squares from mom didn't see us on the list. So she asked if they got it and she said no.

So this is why we hate mailmen.

So What's Her Name is a super nice lady and she told us we could still send one. So we gave mom our sad puppies eyes.....

and asked her if maybe she would make another one. Well thank goodness mom loves us lots and she loves the Pittie Pack so guess what she did...

Yep she made another one.

We are going to send this UPS or Fedex!

Ready For the Weekend

We're Doing Better

Some of you might have seen on FB that we had a bit of a scare with Kitteh Brudder Tanner this week. He wasn't using his back legs so good. Mom and Dad thought they might have to take him the ER V-E-T. They gave him fluids and some pain meds they got from Vet Aunt Barb. And then he snuggled up in mom's lap for the night.

Well they took him to see the V-E-T on Monday and found out he has arthritis in his back and right knee and the xray also showed that he's got 3, count them 3 bladder stones. :-( Poor kitteh. They also did blood work, which was all normal except for an elevated white count. So he will get meds for a week and then a re-check and assuming all is well then he will get the stones out.

We sure are happy he's doing better.

While Mom and Dad were running around dealing with Tanner we did what we do best.

PeeS. Maddie and Cuz'in Ruger have figured out that they like to play! It's silly to see a 135lb mastiff playing with a 55lb "mutt". Hmmmm I guess that is what life is like for Mango and Dexter!

It's Official!

So it's official. Maddie is the newest member of our pack. She came on Tuesday and we took to her like she'd always been here. We are still working on things with Cuz'in Ruger, but we are sure in time they will settle in.

Here is some of what happened with mom and the flashy beast!

She's a bit skiddish.

She found a bed that she liked.

She has been helping mom work.

She makes a big mess when she drinks (see the dark spot to the let of the bowl)

She got comfortable and sacked out.

And she hoarded the bones.

She is already starting to come out of her shell. She hops around, wags her tail and loves to get loved on.

Teaser Follow-Up

So most of you probably know that mom is a big giant softy when it comes to fur kids. She took Jada and me at the same time so we wouldn't have to be split up, being brother and sister and all. Then about a year later we got Lucky when he was 11. A lot of people thought mom was nuts...that we might only have him 6 months. Why get attached if he was just going to cross over soon. Well he didn't, he was with us almost 2 and 1/2 years and he just made mom and dad and everyone smile all the time.

So you guys all remember Miss Mayzie's Rescue Me event right?! Well we featured dogs from several rescues. One was from Big Dogs Huge Paws, a 10 year old Brindle English Mastiff named Maddie.

Well assuming that we all get along she has a new furever home...WITH US! People are probably going to say that mom is nuts again (isn't the first time and won't be the last) but she and dad don't care. We think she is mighty special.

We think it's pretty funny that most people thought she was a he. :-D

So we'll let you know more about when she's coming. She's not very far away so it's just a matter of making sure that we don't stress her out with the holidays.

Pet Lovers Unite!!!

We read on KISSA-BULL where Miss Sandra wrote "i'll never forget how alone i felt that night when i was screaming for help for my doggies and all i could hear from my neighbors was that us humans were safe and that they were just dogs" and were completely heartbroken.

These are people that obviously have never known the love of a pet.    They don't understand the lengths that pet parents go to for the family members that they love. And yes they are family members. We made a conscience decision to not have 2 legged children. All of our kids have 4 legs and fur. Everyone that knows me knows this.   There are many times when my friends are talking about the issues they have with their 2 legged kids and I say DOGS!!!

One of the many many things I love about our blog community is that it has connected me with so many like minded fur parents. People that understand spending thousands of dollars on surgery because you can't imagine time without your furry kids.

I have to admit that when I read the above and the comments from the other neighbor about burying them by the tree in the backyard. I was all ready to round up the Blogville Posse and head for Houston!   So if anyone wants to join the Posse just let me know!

I know lately that a lot of our posts have been a bit melancholy so I wanted to end this on a fun note.

I'm sure that many of you have seen these in one form or another before but I wanted to share them again!

Notice to Guests At My House

1. The dogs lives here. You don't.

2. If you don't want the dog to be near you, stay off the furniture.

3. Yes, they have some disgusting habits. So do I, and so do you. What's your point?

4. OF COURSE they smell like a dogs.

5. It's their nature to try to sniff your crotch. Please feel free to sniff theirs.

6. I like them a lot better than I like most people.

7. He does THAT because he CAN!

8. To you they are dogs. To me they are adopted sons and daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these things.

9. Dogs are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about whether they have the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, don't need a gazillion dollars for university, and if they get pregnant you can sell the pups(Of course all of ours are spayed or neutered).

We have been humbled by the out pouring of support for Sandra and The Houston Pittie Pack. We can't even imagine the pain they are experiencing. The love Sandra has shown for her 4 legged furry kids is amazing. Nothing we can say can erase that pain.

Last But Not Least...Rescue Me Week Ends

Miss Mayzie you and your mama have to have about the biggest hearts ever. All this focus on helping pets find their furever homes!   We haven't had time to get around to them all but we are going to try this weekend.

So far this week we featured BigDogsHugePaws, Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue and Black Dog Rescue WY.    Been all about the senior dogs!

But we aren't a dog only household here. So last but not least we are featuring the Protective Animal League in TX. This is where daddy got our kitty brothers Tanner and Chaplin. We looked for senior kitties but they didn't have any. So we picked the next best thing, a pair of special needs kitties.

What do you guys think?

Well both these guys have been diagnosed with cerebellar hypoplasia. It means that their cerabellum was not completely mature at birth and gives them some coordination issues. They think that either the mom got vaccinated or had an illness while she was pregnant. This is a video of a kitty that has the condition.

We believe that no matter what every pet deserves a loving home. We have been looking at seniors and special needs dogs for our next one. No matter what kind of animal you rescue you make a difference!

Rescue Me ... Part III

So we found Cousin Ruger on Petfinder. He came from Black Dog Rescue in Wyoming. Now Ruger wasn't a Black Dog but they helped him til he found his furever home with Favoritest Aunt Jamie.

So we wanted to pick a senior from their rescue too. We went out and found Matilda! She's not quite black but since neither was Cousin Ruger we figured it was a sign! They don't have a direct link to her but you can go here and then page down til you find her. Who knows maybe you will fine a new furever furend while you are there.

Better Late Than Never...Rescue Me Part II

Mom had a long day today and didn't have time til now to help us.

So yesterday we picked the oldest senior at Big Dogs Huge Paws where we are looking for the newest member of the family.

Well Jada, Lucky and I all came from the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue. We wanted to share a couple of seniors from there. They are both 12. There is a boy and a girl. They both are going to need the most perfect family for them.

The first one is the boy. His name is Mannikko. You can click his name to read all about him.

The second one is the girl. Her name is Norma. You can click her name is to read all about her. She reminds us of Jada.

Please go see them and see if they can be the most perfect dogs for you! :-)

We're Back...And Let's Rescue!

Ok so things here have been way past crazy. The really big news is we moved. We got some new neighbors at the old house and they didn't like us much. Decided we were too big and loud. Well Mom and Dad decided they didn't like them more so they found us a new place to live. And guess what?!

It's on 2 1/2 acres. It's like having our very own dog park every day! We even have our very own bunnies to chase. Here's a picture of just part of our yard!

Mom and Dad have FINALLY gotten pretty settled in and so maybe we will have more time to get around and see everyone and say hi.

So mom saw on FB that our great friend Miss Mayzie is doing a Rescue Me week in honor of her Grandpa J. Well we just couldn't miss out on that. Part of having more space means mom and dad have started looking for another friend for us. Well one of the places we have been looking is a local rescue that specializes in giant breeds. It's called BigDogsHugePaws. Heck mom liked them so much that she signed up to volunteer with them.

Now most of you know about our brother Lucky that crossed over the rainbow bridge a little over a year ago. Well mom and dad got him when he was 11, way past the age that many people will think about adopting. He was with us for 2 1/2 years and made us happy every day. So mom decided to pick the oldest dog on Big Dogs website to feature today. Adopt a senior pet, it's great for both of you!

Her name is Maddie, she's a 10 year old Brindle English Mastiff . You can read all about her on their website.

We haven't completely fallen off the face of the earth. Mom and Dad have been super busy. :-( They had some guys come and paint a bunch of the inside of the house. Luckily we had really nice weather for most of the time and we got to hang out in the backyard.

Any of My Blog Friends in Canada!?

Ok mom asked if she could take over my blog to see if she could make an off the wall request.

So here's my issue. I bought some curtains in a Bed Bath and Beyond in the US. They don't have them any more. The Canadian BB&B does, but they won't ship to the US. I have tried calling the stores directly and they still don't have any way to ship to the US.

So I'm wondering if one of you is in Canada and would be willing to let me use your address and then ship them for you to me. I will be more than happy to cover all shipping costs plus a bonus for your time.

I know this is a bit crazy but I have searched all over and this seems to be the only place they are.

Yep, that's another dog in a cone. Cuz'in Ruger had to have a lumpy bumpy taken off his back foot. He's so super bendy that we had to get a Giant Mango sized cone so he couldn't reach his foot.

We Haven't Fallen Off the Face of the World

It's been a while since we posted. Things have been busy for mom and dad. They just ran away and left us for about 5 days. Dad wanted to go and see his grandpa. They had a really good visit!

FAJ came and stayed with us though so that part was good.

Other than that things have been pretty boring around here. It's super nice out today so we are going to try putting on our woeful faces and see if they will take pity on us and take us to the park to do Zoomies!

100 Posts and Merry Christmas

Oh my dogness! 100 posts, it only took us about a year. :-) We have been waiting for when we had time to do our 100th post justice.

There has been so much this last year. We did our introductions and let you all know how I became Mr. Nubbin'.

We pawticipated in GABE and got to go to Twix's Date Night with the lovely Miss Shady!

You all found out about Favoritest Aunt Jaime. We all remember the horrible bath incident, but at least we won a GABE prize. We got a visit from Flat Brutus. I got to show off my stuff at the bachelorette party!

We got a new cousin

and we had to say good-bye to Lucky :-(.

Mom and FAJ did 2 half marathons and mom did a triathlon. Mom and Dad left us twice to go on vacation. :-(

We had the year of the cone head!

But mostly we made tons of new furends!

Yep that is Jada looking just like Boomer did for a couple months. Here's the funny in this, when I picked her up I said, "I'm having a flashback", the vet tech says, "we now call that the Boomer wrap".

She was at daycare and her ear ended getting tagged by someone. It's not any where close to as bad as Boomer's was. We are going to move her to Boomer's padded cone in a couple days so she doesn't have to stay bandaged.

She's sleeping comfortably now.

This is the kind of thing that only seems to happen to us!

The Week In Review

We are trying to work our way back into blogging. We are going to try starting with a week in review.

Tuesday was a very full day. Mom took us to try out a new doggy day care. We liked it and they liked us so we are going to start there next week. After our day at daycare we had to stop and see Uncle Ron because Jada had some gunkies in her eye. Mom finds taking us to the V.E.T. after daycare means we are much more calm. You'll be happy to know a few drops and Jada was right as rain.

Favoritest Aunt Jamie had to go out of town for a couple days so Cuz'in Ruger slept over for a couple nights. He was completely crashed out on the couch, hogging Jada's space. Mom thought it was funny how his ear was flipped over.

The best part of the whole week was the weekend, both days, we went with Mom, Dad, FAJ and Cuz'in Ruger to an Open Space close to our house. We get the chance to go off our leashes and go bounding thru the brush. If we are really lucky we scare up a couple bunnies to chase. We have a great time. We are super thirsty when we get back to the car, but Mom is great and brings up water!

We are starting to adjust to life with out Lurpy, but it's still sad.

Things with mom's back are getting better. She's had 1 shot and is getting another this week. She was even able to take us out with Dad, FAJ and cuzin' Ruger to the open space to chase bunnies. We had a wonderful time.

We are going to try to get back on a more regular blog schedule. We have missed you all.

Good-Bye Sweet Boy

We haven't been around much lately. Just too much of life happening all at once.

But as some of you have already left wonderfully sweet thoughts we thought we needed to tell you about what happened.

My brother Lucky passed over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. It all happened pretty quickly, but he wasn't in pain and didn't suffer. Mom, Dad and Favoritest Aunt Jaime where with him the whole time.

We are sad but we know he's off chasing bunnies and having a wonderful time with our sister Roo that passed over a couple years ago. We have so many wonderful memories to keep.

Thank you soooo much Mayzie for your wonderful tribute. You made mom get all leaky again. :-)

Status of Things

Sorry we have not been around much. Mom hurt her back, they think a herniated disk. She has an MRI on Monday. :-( So things have been a bit slow around here.

We got contacted about a Mastiff needing a forever home and thought we would pass along the information. His mom ended up with lymphoma.

His name is Moose. So if you know any one that might be interested please pass it along.

We will try to get back around this weekend. We have missed you all!

How We Had Time to Become a Pack...Part II

With the pictures fixed, we hope!

So when we left off the other day mom and FAJ were being wine-os! BOL!

So they left Eugene and headed back up north to pickup all their race stuff. Then they met up with FAJ's cousin and his family to go to a campout/BBQ. They were just doing the BBQ stuff! Needing a good night sleep before their race and all.

After this they headed back to town to get a good nights sleep before the race.

How We Had Time to Become a Pack...Part I

So Mom and FAJ ran off and left us AGAIN! For 5 whole days. Ok well really 3 whole days and 2 sort of days. So Dad was on puppy duty. He took really good care of all of us. Of course he was the one that put Ruger in the cone, but it was for his own good.

So were did Mom and FAJ go? Well they went to Oregon. They did lots of stuff while they were gone but the big thing they went to do was run ANOTHER (and FAJ says last) half marathon. It was the Oregon Wine Country Half-Marathon. They had a most marvelous run. They finished in 2:22:15. Seems to be about their average.

They started out by going to visit some friends of FAJ. While they were there they went to several wineries.

Next stop was Silvan Ridge, right across the street.

Mom was trying to figure out the timer on the camera and FAJ was messing around while she did, this was the picture that was finally captured.

This was the last stop for the day.

This included a tour of their wine making operation.

Mom and FAJ are trying to figure out how to have this barrel delivered. BOL!

Mom wanted me to tell you that they did go for a training run before they started all their wine tasting. They also said this was a horrible way to spend a beautiful Friday afternoon but someone has to do it.

The State of Things

So yesterday we posted poor Ruger's cone pictures. Here is the reason, he's a poor little allergy dog. He's allergic to corn, wheat and yeast. He's also apparently a counter surfer. Last week we had cookies cooling on the counter and he helped himself. We don't bother anything on the counter so mom and dad didn't even think about it. They know better now.

It appears that maybe he had a bit of an allergic storm start. He was scratching and licking. He has a scrape on his neck on his scars there and a raw spot on his front leg. He goes back to see Uncle Ron and Aunt Barb this afternoon and I'm sure they will get him all straightened out.

Mom just thought it was funny that he was only here a few weeks and ended up in a cone.

Our kitteh sister is out of her cone and doing much better. Her foot is all healed up and she's back to all her normal activities. This is giving us a lot of opportunity to work on Ruger's Off command.

We are all getting along swimmingly. We has 5 days together to really cement us as a pack. I will probably let mom have the blog tomorrow or Saturday to tell you all about it.

So it's not just me in our house that gets stuck in a cone. I thought I'd show my pathetic kitteh sister.

While I am the cone master, she is not! She hates this. She has been in it since right after mom and dad got back from vacation. She had to have a biopsy on one of her toes. Luckily it turned out to be an allergy related granuloma so we are just treating with steroids. They think maybe she will be able to take it off the end of the week.

But around here if it's not one thing it's another!

Ruger, the dog formerly known as Dog To Be Named Later. :-)

So he came home yesterday and took his first trip to Petco...Where the Pets Go.

Then he waited super patiently while him mom got his food out of the garage for dinner.

Then he frog dog passed out while his mom finished making dinner.

Then he de-stuffed his first stuffie!

Yep the squeaker is the best part! (See the blue in the corner of his mouth)

At the end of the night he had a good ole game of wrassle with his mom.

We just got back from going for a run, me and mom, Ruger and FAJ. We did good. We introduced him to Jada on a walk and they seemed to do pretty good. She's pretty timid. Then they let us out in the backyard one at a time with him. He and I did fine. He and Jada had a couple of discussions but nothing big. We will probably all go for a walk this afternoon to do more socializing. (I think more for mom than us, introducing new dogs always makes her nervous.)

Hola senors and senoritas!

Hope everyone was great while we were gone. Mom says once she digs out from under work we'll head around to say hi to everyone!

So while mom and dad were gone Favoritest Aunt Jaime was the bestest sitter. She took us for walks loved on us and most importantly took me to see Aunt Barb to get the stitches out of my ear!

Yep. I am a stitch and cone free puppy! I give you examples below!

So Mom and Dad are ~~deserting us~~ going on vacation for 8 whole days! OMD! Rest assured that we are being left in the capable hands of Favoritest Aunt Jamie. However FAJ doesn't blog.

The Good, The Bad and The WAY Ugly!

So the first good thing....I don't have a bandage on my head. WOOO HOOO! The bad thing, I'm still in my cone. Then there is the WAY ugly thing. Look what mom did to me!!!!!

Now It REALLY REALLY looks like a lampshade!

Now she says she did this for my benefit. I don't really believe her. They were laughing at me at the vet when they saw me in it :-(.

Note from Mom: The cone needs to be padded in case he does shake his head. Which thankfully he is doing less often.

Here's my ear. It's looking a lot better than both Mom and Aunt Barb thought it would!

When I had all my tail surgeries I healed up fast on the last one with no bandage so we are hoping that what will happen here. The stitches on the outside are really close to be able to come out, it's the ones on the inside that are taking a bit longer.

We're sorry we haven't been around much lately. That has been some of the other good though.

See mom did her triathlon yesterday. The Tri-for-the-Cure, it's the biggest sprint tri in the country. Mom finished 121 out of 301 in her age group. Way to go Mom!

So after mom's race Dad took Lucky and went and met mom and Favoritest Aunt Jaime to drive to Wyoming! What you ask would posses them to do that?

Well that would be our new cousin!

This would be Dog To Be Named later. Aunt Jamie doesn't like his name so we have to figure out what we are going to call him.

They took Lucky since he's the grumpy old man to make sure they would get along. Seeing how much Favoritest Aunt Jamie is here we expect Dog To Be Named Later to be here a lot too. Like we'll probably be his daily doggy day care. After a little bit of time and lots of treats Lucky and Dog seemed to be ok together.

FAJ is going to pick him up on the 13th after Mom and Dad get back from ~~deserting us~~ going on vacation for a week.

So that's all our news and why we haven't been around.

So I went and saw Aunt Barb today. She and Uncle Ron talked and talked and decided to try something different. They ended up taking out a triangle section and pulling the corners together. We will know more in about a week when we see how I'm healing. So rather than having a shorter ear on one side I'll have a skinnier one!

Do I look different yet?

The good news is I'm back home with my people and for the most part not acting any different than before surgery. :-)

My Lampshade

So JD and Max mentioned that my lampshade looked well used meaning I don't let it slow me down.

I sure don't. I have been in one for close to 4 months of my life between this and my tail and so I have mad skill in a cone. I can do just about everything I can do without, except going through the dog door. Not that I haven't tried. Heck this morning I hopped right in bed with mom and dad and put my head on the pillow just like always.

This is my first cone (or maybe 3rd, it's a little fuzzy for mom):

See the big rip down one side. That is where I forced my way through the dog door. Of course it bent in and pinched my head and dad had to rescue me but I got in!

You see all the duct tape. This holds it together and kept me from cutting my poor mom and dad to pieces. I tend to forget it sticks out so far.

So this is my new cone:

The nice thing about this one for mom and dad is it's not so big. It just needs to keep me from pawing at my ear rather than chewing on stuff.

Hopefully I'll be cone free in a bit more than 2 weeks! But til then, I'll just do what I always do and act like it's not there. Well that and use it as a funnel for NOMS!!!

Well Piffle!

So we went and saw Aunt Barb today about my ear. Not such good news. It's not healing. So on Monday I am going back to see her and have the part of my ear that hasn't healed cut off. So I'll have a long ear on one side and a short ear on the other. :-(

Mom is pretty sad about this, but she also wants me to be able to live with out this silly lampshade on my head any longer than we have to.

We tried to let it heal on it's own for 5+ weeks and it's just not working so this is the route we have to go.

Thanks for all the crossed paws and fingers we appreciate it. After my tail I don't think mom is all that surprised I didn't heal well but it still stinks!

So I'll be looking at you like this for a couple more weeks.

Can't be Wordless Wednesday When It's Your Gotcha Day!!!!

That's right, it's our Gotcha Day! 3 years ago today we found our furever family!

We told a bit of our story when we first started our bloggie. But we thought we'd tell some more.

Mom used to have mom and daughter golden retrievers.

This is Shelby the mom:

This is Roo the daughter with brother Petey.

Well Shelby got sick and crossed over the Rainbow bridge. That left Roo as an only dog.   So mom and dad started talking about what kind of dog to get. Dad had lived in South Africa and had friends that had Ridgebacks, also a friend of his here had them growing up. So mom and dad sat down and started looking at the Ridgeback Rescue website.

They started looking here in Colorado but there were only a couple of dogs and they didn't like cats.   Well dad has family in Texas so they started looking there.     Well after looking at a bunch of dogs they found us.   Oh bio said we were good with cats and that we like to play with other dogs, especially each other.   Well as some of you may have noticed mom is a bit of a ~~bleeding heart~~ softy.   She couldn't bear the thought of us being separated. So she and dad talked a bit and decided to apply to take both of us.

Well long story short they passed the home visit and after talking to the Texas Coordinator mom borrowed her brother's Suburban and off to Texas they headed.     They showed up at Ms. Celia's on Saturday morning. After a couple minutes she went and got us out of the house. When I came running out the first thing mom said, "Oh my God, I adopted a horse!!" She let Jada out too and we ran around some.

They brought Roo along to make sure we would all get along. Dad went to the car to let Roo out. I decided that I didn't want to wait to meet her and I just hopped up in the front seat. We all got along with Roo just fine.    So after finishing the paper work we all loaded up in the car and started the trip back to Colorado.   It was a bit of a long drive back, lets just say Jada has a nervous stomach. :-(

Once we got back mom took a bunch of pictures with the flashy beast to show us to people. These are some of them.

All About My People

So Oskar suggested taking some time to give our people some props! And seeing how today is my mom's gotcha day this seemed like a perfect idea.

So here goes.

We live in Colorado Springs, CO, about an hour south of Denver.

So about my mom, well first of all it's her gotacha day today. Apparently it's a big one cuz one of her cards said in dog years she'd be dead. :-) Actually we heard her say she's 40. :-D

She grew up in Denver and then went to Colorado State University, about an hour north of Denver in Ft. Collins.

She has an Engineering Science Degree with a computer software emphasis. I'm not sure what this means but I think she had to study a lot. She also played in the marching band when she was there. She plays the flute as her primary instrument but in marching band she played on the drum line cuz she could make more noise! She graduated back in 1994 and then went to work for MCI. She been in the same office for 16 years and has worked for about 5 different companies with all the mergers and sales. Of course now a days she works at home pretty much full time which makes me VERY happy.

When mom's not working she's working out. She runs a lot, she and favoritest Aunt Jamie did the half - marathon back in June and they are doing another one in September in Oregon. Then in 2 weeks she doing the Tri for the Cure triathlon up in Denver.

She and dad also play World of Warcraft like some of the other blog parents. Mom thought it was nice to know she wasn't the only mom that played!

She and dad have been together for about 3 years they met at work.

Now Dad is pretty much my favorite person.

He grew up all over the place, he's lived in Texas, Connecticut, South Africa and Japan. He went to school at Baylor University and has a finance degree. He took that and started working for a bank doing computer stuff. He did some work on Y2K with Mayzie's dad and when they moved to Colorado he followed a few weeks later.

My dad is a handy guy and really likes to work on stuff with motors. He is spending a lot of time out in the garage working on his Jeep. This is his Jeep in process:

He likes to work out too, but unlike mom he HATES to run. :-)

Mom and Dad both have motorcycles and like to take them out for rides. Sadly neither has a side car so we are forced to stay home when they do that.

Well for me that is Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue. All of my kids are from there. I have learned even more from my furiends the level of effort and commitment it takes to work in rescue. If it hadn't been for wonderful rescuers in Alabama and Texas I wouldn't have my babies. Celia Robinson is the North Texas Coordinator for RRR. She goes above and beyond supporting this organization. She keeps dogs as long as she has to until they find their furever homes. In Lucky's case this was 2 years. Care, feeding, trips to the vet, exercise, love. It's her full time job. I can't thank her enough for all that she did for my kids!

One of RRR's big fundraisers is their Ridgeback-A-Day calendar. We have submitted pictures 2 years now. I can't wait to see if we get into the 2011 Calendar. You can get your very own here.

Here is our calendar day in 2010, it's coming up next week 7/21.

I know I will never buy another dog! I will rescue. And knowing me I will rescue the one(s) with the saddest story, the longest time in rescue, or the old one no one wants.

I took in an 11 year old 100lb dog, we are coming up on 2 wonderful years with him and he's going strong. You just never know.

So as you all know I have been in the cone since 6/18. Well my brother has a lumpy bumpy on his leg. Mom took him to see Aunt Barb yesterday when she took me to get my bandage changed. Well Aunt Barb said it should come off. So he went this morning to have it removed. Everything turned out just fine. But we now have 2 100lb dogs in cones!

You can see Lucky's little shaved patch and stitches on the back of his leg.

The upside of today was we got a new box of noms from Happy Hearts. Three cheese, salmon and cheese and BACON and cheese! We found out about these treats when we won them from Tank during GABE. They are homemade and even your people can eat them. Favoritest Aunt Jamie liked the applesauce ones with peanut butter.

We are completely distracted by the NOMS and must go now!

The State of Things

So mom was really hoping that once the stitches came out I'd be cone free. They came out after 2 weeks. However the center of the wound couldn't be stitched and we just have to wait for the skin to grow back. Apparently I heal slow! :-( They say it's less than half the size it was when we started so we are getting there it's just taking time. So you will likely see me like this for at least another week or so.

The one upside of all of this is that the treats come regularly!

Why We Haven't Been Around to Visit

So you may have noticed we have not been around much the past few days. Well I think we have told you before that mom is ~~daft, loco, off her rocker, crazy~~ driven. On Saturday Mom and Favoritest Aunt Jaime decided to run ~~from Colorado to New Mexico~~ a Half Marathon. They did the Slacker Half-Marathon. It's the highest downhill half marathon in the country. (Told you she was crazy! )

A Special Visitor!

So there has actually been more happening around here than all my ear drama. So I think you guys saw last week how Flat Brutus came to see Miss Mayzie. Well you see Miss Mayzie actually lives really close to us so we talked her into letting Flat Brutus come for a sleep over!

Seems the only one he slept with however was our kitteh sister. Maybe it was her being the same color and all. :-(

Well when Flat Brutus was with Miss Mayzie boy they sure did LOTS of stuff. So mom thought maybe we could show him how to relax!

First mom took him for a ride in the sun in her convertible.

Then get this....for a massage!

My Ear

So you saw how my brother and I had a bit of a disagreement. Really I think I just scared him (he's not seeing so well anymore). So I ended up needing surgery to sort of put my ear back together.

I will have a chunk missing at the bottom and some of the fur once I'm all healed up. Oh well, I wasn't planning on entering any beauty pageants. This will just give me even more character. Mom is talking about buying me an eye patch, a Harley Davidson leather vest and a big spiked collar. :-) Maybe I will let her for Halloween.

Any way I promised some pictures. I would be most happy if you would refrain from laughing at me though.

However not even this can keep me from my intense love of NOMS!

Please Dad, Can I have some pretty please????

Poor Nubbin'

We would happily take some puppy prayers. Boomer and Lucky were out walking and had a bit of a tiff. Boomer ended up with a pretty nasty gash in his ear. He's having surgery to sew the bottom part of the ear back together. The rest of the ear will have to just heal with lots of bandage changes over the next couple of weeks.

Vet called and he is out of surgery and all bandaged and we can go spring him in an hour. I'm sure there will be pictures to follow tomorrow with him in the cone of terror.

So from the comments that had posted by the time mom had to submit (since she was running VERY VERY late). The choice was photo #2!

So mom posted a while back about how I got to be in the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue Calendar last year. Well mom just realized she has to have this years picture in by TODAY! Oops. She decided this year she wants to include all of us. (I'm not really sure why)

So last night she got Favoritest Aunt Jamie to give us treats so we'd all be in one place and she started snapping away with the evil nasty flashy beast.

So we said a while ago that mom got a new flashy beast. Well she keeps trying to torment us with it.
I am having none of that and every time she points it at me I either yell at her or take off.

Jada however doesn't seem to care as much so mom got some pretty good pictures of her. Now normally I know this is my blog but seeing how Jada diverted mom's attention with the flashy beast I decided to share!

Oh No Mom Got a New Flashy Beast!!

Well it's probably going to be a long few days for us. Mom got herself a new flashy beast. It has all kinds of bells, and whistles and lens. She is now following us everywhere snapping shots. :-(

We'll start with me since it is my blog and all.

So dad took us kids to daycare yesterday morning. Now mom's truck was parked on the street right now not in the driveway. He took Lucky out and got him loaded and then mom let Jada and me out.

In addition to being in the street the car was facing the wrong way. Apparently mom got lost coming home or something.

Well Jada went where the back of the car is supposed to be and hopped "in". Seeing how the car was facing the wrong way that put her on the hood! I tried to follow her but I didn't quite make it up. Luckily the car was all dewed up so we didn't scratch the paint!

Sadly mom was getting to go for her run and didn't have her flashy beast. But I'm sure you can all imagine my pretty Jada sister as the hood ornament on an Xterra.

Hope you all got the same laugh mom and dad did!

Apparently my parents ~~hate me~~ thought I was getting a bit dirty. They took me ~~to be tortured~~ for a bath. This place had pick-up truck beds that have been rubber lined to use for bath tubs. It's also a car wash. :-)

Below you will see that not only did they have to wash me, mom insisted on documenting it for posterity.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

So here is the word part of Almost Wordless Wednesday. My wonderful furend Mayzie is doing a contest on her blog for the next week. See Mayzie had a Dee-En-Ay test done to see what kinda puppy she might be. So her mom decided that she could raise money for a local rescue group by having people guess what Mayzie's made of. You can also have a chance at a prize if you guess right. Mayzie's mom and dad will donate 50 cents per guess up to 400 guesses to Mariah's Promise. So run over to Mayzie's Guess My Family Tree!

So this weekend was get stuff done weekend. After finishing up moving about ~~200~~ 2 tons of rock dad and favoriest Aunt Jaime were sitting on the back porch. Aunt Jaime was drinking coffee and I decided to check it out.

I even tried to show Jada how good it was.

We also wanted to send out special hugs to Maxmom. Max crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today. :-(
